Creep experiments reveal differences in behavior for stainless steel welded joints, indicating the need for careful modeling.
The microstructure gradient in stainless steel welded joints leads to substantial disparities in creep behavior compared to the base materials. In this paper, creep experiments and numerical simulations were carried out on the welded joints of 304 austenitic stainless steel. The developments of creep strain at 773 K with different stresses were analyzed. Experimental data is fitted to obtain accurate creep constitutive model parameters. A creep simulation model was established using ABAQUS, and the evolution of deformation and strain during the creep stage was discussed through elastic-viscoelastic analysis. This study furnishes a foundation for evaluating the creep capacity of austenitic stainless steel welded joints.
