This study reveals the energy conversion capabilities of a wave energy converter in nearshore conditions, indicating its potential benefits for harnessing wave energy.
This study introduces an innovative wave energy converter (WEC) tailored for nearshore wave conditions, aiming to overcome existing difficulties in harnessing wave energy. The paper systematically examines the principles underlying the design, structural elements, and mechanisms involved in energy conversion. Additionally, theoretical analyses on the device’s kinematic and dynamic properties are performed. The numerical modeling software STAR-CCM+ is employed to discretize the WEC geometry, complemented by a mesh sensitivity analysis to ensure computational accuracy. Finally, the WEC’s dynamic response, acting forces, and generated power output throughout its operational cycle are thoroughly analyzed.
