Empirical analysis demonstrates improved abrasion resistance of slag aggregate from selective crushing, suggesting better transport infrastructure durability.
The issue of increasing the abrasion resistance of the slag aggregate of the asphalt concrete pavement is being considered. The purpose of the study is to evaluate the effect of selective crushing of asphalt concrete slag aggregate on its abrasion resistance. Empirical methods such as selective crushing and laboratory abrasion tests were used to achieve this purpose. The results of a study of the effect of pre-enrichment of slag aggregate by selective crushing in a ball mill on its abrasion resistance are presented. The grade of the pre-enriched slag aggregate in terms of abrasion has been determined. A comparative assessment of the abrasion resistance of the proposed material and other aggregates – natural and artificial, obtained from waste.
