Gear transmission accuracy critically determines the performance and service life of mechanical systems, where burrs and flashes on tooth edges significantly compromise assembly precision and transmission stability. These defects not only deteriorate meshing accuracy but also induce abnormal vibration/noise and accelerate tooth wear. This study develops a precision edge trimming method based on CNC milling technology. The methodology involves: establishing mathematical models of involute profile, gear tip arc, and root curve to derive offset curves with micron-level compensation; planning tool path based on differential geometry principles; and implementing experimental validation on a self-developed CNC edge milling platform. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed method effectively eliminates edge defects and achieves micron-level precision profile modification. The innovation lies in the integrated mathematical approach combining theoretical modeling with advanced CNC machining, providing a novel solution for high-precision gear manufacturing.
