Quantitative analysis shows transparency boosts village government performance, highlighting governance challenges.
This research is driven by the urgency of implementing the principles of good corporate governance to improve the performance of village governance. The main objective of this study is to evaluate the influence of various dimensions of sound corporate governance principles, including information transparency, clear accountability, stakeholder engagement, fair treatment, and independence in decision-making. Altogether, these elements enhance the performance of the Telaga Waru Village Government, located in Pringgabaya District, in 2025. The methodology employed is a quantitative approach, with data collected through the distribution of questionnaires. Data processing in this study was conducted using the Partial Least Squares-Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) approach and analyzed with SmartPLS software. The findings of this study indicate that only the transparency dimension significantly influences the performance of the village government. Meanwhile, the other dimensions, accountability, participation, fairness, and independence, do not show a statistically significant relationship. This suggests a continued high dependency on higher-level government authorities, low community participation, and a lack of accountability and fairness in managing village resources. Therefore, strategic efforts are needed to strengthen all dimensions of good governance to comprehensively improve the performance of the village government.
