Conceptual foundations of F6G highlight improvements in data transmission latency and communication bandwidth for fixed networks.
Humanity has entered a new infocommunication era, the main characteristic of which is the convergence of various technologies that provide infocommunication services and have a significant impact on all aspects of human activity, including social interaction and interaction with the natural environment. Fixed networks play a critical role in this convergence as they form, together with mobile networks, the backbone providing access to a wide range of services accessible from anywhere in the world. It is for this reason that the global telecommunications community has recently begun to define the prospects for the development of fixed-line networks, which is formulated in the form of the concept of 6th generation networks (F6G). F6G networks differ from previous generation networks (F1G–F5G) in that they simultaneously support several key requirements for infocommunication services, such as data transmission latency, communication channel bandwidth and user connectivity to the network. The article discusses the conceptual foundations of F6G networks, presents services and promising optical technologies for their construction.
