Research demonstrates improved oil displacement efficiency in fractured vuggy reservoirs, suggesting enhanced recovery tactics.
Foam flooding is an effective enhanced oil recovery method for deep fractured vuggy carbonate reservoir. This paper systematically investigates the flow behavior and displacement characteristics of foam in fractured vuggy carbonate reservoirs. A multi factor fracture visualization models were constructed through experiments to characterize the complex structure and fluid characteristics of the reservoir. The research shows that foam can preferentially enter into the low resistance dominant channel and gradually diffuse to the secondary fractures, thus improving the sweep range and oil displacement efficiency. It also reveals that the recovery factor in the process of foam displacement presents a three-stage trend: the initial slow rise, the middle rapid rise, and the later tends to be stable. At the same time, it analyzes the impact of gas-liquid ratio and injection flow rate on the shielding effect of foam. The research results provide theoretical support for optimizing foam flooding technology, especially in terms of enhanced oil recovery of complex reservoirs.
