Abstract The falling of anchosr poses a serious threat to the safety of submarine facilities. To address this issue, The purpose of this study is to study the dynamic response of the glass fiber-reinforced plastic (GFRP) submarine protective covers under anchor impacts. Using the numerical simulation software LS-DYNA, a finite element model is developed to compare the performance of steel and composite protective covers. The key parameters such as impact velocity, impact angle and impact position are considered in the study. The stress distribution, energy absorption characteristics and maximum displacement of the protective cover under different impact conditions are analyzed. Results indicate that the composite protective cover has excellent performance in energy absorption and deformation control, offering high impact resistance. These findings provide an effective design reference for improving the safety of sunderwater infrastructure.
