Observational analysis indicates that higher sintering temperatures reduce adsorption in kaolinite, bentonite, and zeolite, suggesting potential changes in industrial uses.
Aluminosilicate minerals - kaolin, montmorillonite and clinoptilolite are natural, abundant and important industrial minerals. These minerals were thermally pretreated in the temperature range of 200 to 800 ?C and the changes in properties, such as cation exchange capacity, adsorption coefficient of methylene blue and adsorption of water, were observed. By increasing the sintering temperature these adsorption characteristics decrease. Thermal pretreatment up to 200 ?C does not significantly affect the adsorption properties and structure of kaolinite and bentonite, while in the case of zeolites, changes begin at 300 ?C.
