Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR)-driven fund allocation for industry-academia collaborations in India is experiencing a surge in relevance, particularly as the nation advances its agenda for a Viksit Bharat through sustainable development. CSR is evolving beyond philanthropy into a strategic instrument, with businesses aligning their investments with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the University Grants Commission’s (UGC) National Education Policy (NEP). These initiatives emphasize innovation, skill development, and social upliftment. The need to effectively channel CSR funds into academia is crucial to bridging existing gaps in research, workforce readiness, and socio-economic development. This research undertakes a qualitative analysis of existing CSR initiatives aimed at academic collaboration in India. It includes a review of policy documents, corporate CSR reports, and case studies to identify trends, challenges, and opportunities. Preliminary findings suggest a growing alignment between corporate social responsibility (CSR) investments and the educational priorities outlined in the National Education Policy (NEP) and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Companies are increasingly channeling CSR resources into higher education institutions to foster innovation, research, and skill-building. However, several challenges persist, including fragmented execution, lack of standardized metrics for impact assessment, and insufficient long-term planning. The proposed impact framework seeks to address these gaps by advocating for data-driven evaluations. CSR has the transformative potential to bridge the industry-academia divide by supporting research, enhancing employability, and promoting socio-economic inclusion. These collaborations, if managed strategically, can enhance corporate reputation and contribute to inclusive economic growth and reduced inequality. Nevertheless, the realization of these benefits requires transparent governance, accountability mechanisms, and a long-term vision that aligns corporate objectives with educational outcomes. The increasing adoption of inclusive and tech-driven CSR programs further underlines the need for comprehensive strategies that ensure sustainability and innovation.
