Case study uncovers strategies to improve han culture dissemination and promote intercultural exchange.
Against the backdrop of the ongoing advancement of the "Belt and Road" Initiative, the inter-na-tional dissemination of Chinese Han culture holds strategic significance for enhancing the na-tion's cultural soft power. Traditional Chinese attire, as a vital material carrier of Han culture, not only embodies rich historical and cultural connotations but also showcases unique artistic value and philosophical thought. This study takes traditional Chinese attire as its focal point to systematically explore English dissemination strategies for Han culture within the context of the Belt and Road Initiative. Firstly, it analyzes the opportunities and challenges for Han cultural dissemination brought about by the Belt and Road strategy at the macro level. Secondly, by comparing the design philosophies, material choices, and symbolic systems of Chinese and Western attire cultures, it reveals the cultural uniqueness of traditional Chinese garments. Thirdly, it elaborates on English translation strategies for traditional attire, including trans-lit-eration, a combination of literal and free translation, and cultural annotation methods. Finally, it proposes three key insights for cross-cultural communication: the dynamic adjustment mecha-nism of domestication and foreignization, the synergistic multi-modal approach to en-hance dis-semination efficacy, and the dialectical unity of standardization and contextualization. The re-search demonstrates that effective English dissemination strategies can significantly im-prove the international propagation of Han culture, foster intercultural exchange and under-standing, and provide new pathways for cultural mutual learning among countries along the Belt and Road.
