Analysis of dielectric properties in manganese zinc ferrite nanoparticles indicates improvements with higher Mn concentrations.
The MnxZn1-xFe2O4 nanoparticles (x = 0.35, 0.50, and 0.65) were synthesized using the sol-gel method. The single cubic spinel phase has been confirmed by X-ray powder diffractometry for all samples. Field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) micrographs demonstrate uniform grain distribution and nano particles (below 20 nm) in all samples. The Raman spectra validate the cubic spinel phase in all samples. The electrical characteristics of these samples have been examined using complex impedance spectroscopy analysis (CIS). The complex impedance study demonstrates that the impedance parameters of all the MnZnferrite samples exhibit both grain and grain boundary effects. The increase in grain border resistance and decrease in grain resistance were seen with rising Mn concentration, alongside a reduction in grain size corresponding to the Mn concentration. The dielectric properties, including dielectric constant and dielectric loss, have been examined in relation to frequency and temperature. The dielectric constant increased with the concentration of manganese. This work offers a very low dielectric loss value, even at high temperatures and high frequencies, thus being suitable for satellite and microwave applications.
