This research fabricates and characterizes diamond kinoform lenses for better focusing in synchrotron sources, demonstrating potential improvements in optical performance.
Diamond is the 'perfect material' for the refractive element of the fourth-generation synchrotron source due to its excellent optical properties, super hardness and high thermal stability, but at the same time, diamond is also the most difficult material to be processed, especially for high-precision three-dimensional machining, which is very difficult. In order to achieve efficient two-dimensional focusing of the fourth generation synchrotron source, we propose to fabricate diamond two-dimensional short kinoform refractive lens by using a high re-frequency ultra-fast laser, and characterise it surface shape and focusing properties.
