Experimental design improved badminton footwork performance among school athletes, suggesting VR techniques enhance training outcomes.
This study explores the integration of the VR visualisation techniques with footwork drill training on enhancing the badminton footwork performance among school badminton players (Boy). Twenty athletes from the Tiruvallur district (Tamil Nadu) were selected using the simple random sampling method, and they were allocated to a single experimental group (n=20). The athletes engaged in a structured training programme that integrated VR visualisation technique and footwork drill. The badminton footwork performance, evaluated using the Hick Footwork Test, was considered a dependent variable in this study. An experimental design with a single group pre-test and post-test was used, which focuses on within-group development. Due to the absence of a control group, the study was limited in its ability to perform between the group’s differentiations. Pre-test and post-test data were collected and investigated using a paired sample t-test to analyses the effectiveness of the study. The result discloses the statistically significant improvement (p<0.05) in footwork performance of the training program. These findings specify that the effect of the VR visualisation technique and footwork drill significantly improves badminton footwork performance among school-level badminton athletes.
