Qualitative study explores how Latinx parents engage in homeschooling, highlighting their strength and cultural resources.
With rates of homeschooling similar to those of the general population, Latinx parents in the United States choose to homeschool their children for a range of reasons. This qualitative study with 3 interview and 32 survey participants reveals how Latinx parents draw on Community Cultural Wealth in their practice of homeschooling. Bringing Latinx families into the conversation as active and engaged participants in the movement of home education, this study highlights how Latinx homeschooling parents act from a position of strength, from the aspirations they have for their children, and with their cultural and linguistic resources.
