Evaluation reveals polymer modified bitumen improves mechanical properties in road applications, suggesting enhanced durability.
Polymer Modified Bitumen (PMB) has emerged as a transformative material in road construction, offering superior mechanical properties, enhanced durability, and improved resistance to environmental stresses compared to conventional bitumen. The research focuses on identifying the ideal blend of polymer and bitumen to maximize strength, flexibility, and thermal stability while ensuring cost-effectiveness. Laboratory test results are analyzed systematically to develop a mix design that meets the demands of modern road infrastructure. This study provides a comprehensive evaluation of PMB to investigate its performance and optimize its composition for road applications. Key mechanical tests for this study including the softening point test and penetration test are conducted to assess temperature susceptibility while the ductility test evaluates flexibility. This study connects test results with real-world performance to better understand how PMB behaves. The findings will help engineers and materials scientists design stronger and more durable bituminous mixtures for sustainable and eco-friendly pavements. By using PMB, we can build roads that last longer, require less maintenance, improve safety, and offer a smoother driving experience. These advancements will help roads handle growing traffic and changing weather conditions more effectively.
