Observational analysis reveals relationships between parental age and body indices in Tushino sheep, indicating implications for breeding.
A large number of zootechnical experiments conducted indicate the relationship between the health and productivity of farm animals and their exterior features. In our research, the influence of the age of parental couples on the physique of the offspring of Tushino sheep was studied. The offspring received from the mated parents had 7 main body indices calculated (the index of legginess, the index of elongation, the thoracic index, the index of bony, the index of bulkiness, the index of overgrowth and the index of massiveness). The indices of the physique of sheep obtained from the mating of older parents in the average group of sheep at one year of age were: 54,0; 104,5; 69,2; 15,0; 132,5; 102,3; 138,0. The average for the group of queens at one year of age was: 53,7; 105,6; 68,0; 14,8; 130,0; 102,6; 138,8. The body indices of the calves obtained from the mating of older parents in the average group of sheep at one year of age were: 53,4;103,6; 73,7; 14,4; 132,0; 104,1; 135,7. The average for a group of queens at one year of age was: 53,5; 104,3; 72,2; 14,3; 132,7; 103,1;135,0. The results make it possible to assert that the best in this indicator are the bunches and bunches received from older parents.
