Analysis reveals precise transverse shear stress in functionally graded beams, suggesting hyperbolic theory outperforms conventional approaches.
Static analysis of functionally graded (FG) beam using hyperbolic beam theory is developed in the present research work. Present hyperbolic beam theory shows the true variation of transverse shear stress at top and bottom surface of beam depth, which are often neglected in conventional beam theory. The beam is considered as simply supported beam and it carries uniform load. The kinematics of the present theory is developed using principle of virtual work, providing a reliable framework for deriving the governing equations (GE). Navier’s technique is employed to get the solution of GE. All numerical results are obtained with MATLAB code. The accuracy and effectiveness of present model is validated by comparing all numerical results with the literature. The comparison indicates strong concordance, showcasing the efficacy of hyperbolic beam theory in accurately predicting the static response of functionally graded beams subjected to evenly distributed load.
