Al-Zn alloy improves battery performance in zinc-ion batteries, indicating better cycling stability and capacity retention.
Zinc-ion batteries have attracted attention for their unique advantages. However, there are some problems with zinc ion batteries. To address these issues, an aluminum-zinc (Al-Zn) alloy was constructed by electrodeposition. Compared to bare zinc, the Al-Zn alloy is more strongly bound to zinc than zinc, which suggests that zinc nuclei preferentially form around the Al-Zn. The battery can be cycled for 630 hours at a current density of 1 mA cm ‐2 and an area capacity of 1 mA h cm. In addition, the full cell assembled with Al-Zn alloy anode also showed good performance, with a specific capacity of 42.75 mA h g ‐1 after 1, 000 cycles, a capacity retention of 46.96%.
