This analysis reveals patient experiences and CAHPS data improve patient safety and reduce malpractice risks.
Understanding the patient's healthcare experience holds significant importance. This understanding not only enhances communication between providers and patients, promoting patient-centered care, but also contributes to fostering a culture of patient safety while reducing the risk of medical malpractice. The focus of this study is to explore how data from the Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (CAHPS) surveys can play a role in improving patient safety and the well-being of healthcare professionals. Additionally, the study involves comparing these survey results with patient reviews and narratives found online, providing a more comprehensive view of healthcare experiences. Furthermore, the study aims to identify and address aspects of patient feedback not covered by CAHPS, such as hospital accidents, malpractice incidents, COVID-related issues, and cases where patients were discharged without proper treatment. This comprehensive investigation seeks to ensure that patients are actively involved in their care and decision-making processes at both individual and systemic levels. Strategies were suggested to broaden the impact of CAHPS surveys and facilitate online patient reviews.
