Systematic review identifies factors influencing supply chains in Latin America, highlighting the need for enhanced sustainability and productivity.
Production losses and inefficiencies in agri-food supply chains primarily stem from climate variability and management shortcomings. In response to climate change and in alignment with the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals, agri-food supply chains need to enhance their productivity, adapt to emerging technological trends, and address disruptions effectively. They also must exhibit increased responsiveness, sustainability, and resilience over time. This study conducts a systematic literature review to provide an overview of the current state of multimodal logistics systems in agricultural development, with a specific focus on the Latin American context, especially in Colombia. The aim is to characterize the existing landscape and identify key factors influencing supply chains. The research is situated within a doctoral thesis proposal, which aims to analyze and improve the productivity of agricultural supply chains in Colombia through the application of numerical methods and operations research.
