Testing reveals that creep curves in nickel alloys vary with temperature, suggesting a need for careful material assessment.
Single-crystals of CMSX-4 and CMSX-10 alloys have been tested for creep at temperatures 750-1100 °C and low-cyclic fatigue at 700 °C. It is shown that the type of creep curves depends on test temperature. It was established that when testing for creep and fatigue strength, the fracture of samples occurred from foundry under-top pores. Pores significantly reduce fatigue durability, but do not significantly affect long-term strength.
