Evaluation of working gases enhances wear-resistant coatings in mobile plasma plants, suggesting practical applications.
The results of the evaluation and selection of working gases during plasma-powder surfacing, which protect the molten metal and electrode from oxidation and contribute to the steady burning of a plasma arc, are presented. The use of plasma methods with selected gases in industry makes possible to deposit wear-resistant coatings to machine and equipment parts. A mobile plant for plasma surfacing on the base of a «KamAZ» truck had been developed, for which the thermophysical features of the use of hot hydrocarbons were considered, as well as recommendations for their practical application and control were given.
