Analysis compares attitudes towards female car drivers among Algerian men and women, highlighting cultural perceptions.
Societies interweave with the language kinds found in their daily service. The fact that any society undergoes variation impacts straightly its language composition. Age, region, social class render language variable, and so does gender. Another factor, culture, involves social space, history and collective imaginings of communities. The query of language variation according to gender has earned a wide zone of post-structural interest. Three gender theories are currently presented: The deficit theory, dominance theory and difference theory. The latter indicates difference between the two genders: Men and women behave differently because they belong to different sub-cultures. As a response to nowadays’ global changes and requirements, more and more women are car drivers in Algeria. Since this topic is underresearched in the country, and on the basis of the participant observation, interviews and questionnaire, the present paper compares between Algerian men and women’s attitudes towards female car drivers through their language performance.
