Client guidance improves understanding of structure types and project budget for pedestrian bridges.
Providing clients the guidance needed to select the structure type appropriate for their project is a challenging and demanding task. Balancing client desires with their project budget can put engineers in a quandary of conflicting requirements. Communicating the cost demands for various options through each stage of project development will allow the client and engineer to collaboratively drive the project to a successful conclusion. This requires a detailed understanding of the various structure types available and the cost implications inherent in each. This process can be even more demanding on pedestrian bridges where the form and finish tends to require a higher level of scrutiny than vehicular bridges. Familiarity with this level of scrutiny is needed to guide the expectations of those we work with and facilitate successful project delivery.
