Retrospective analysis reveals prevalence of rouleaux formation in erythrocytes among dogs and cats with neoplastic conditions, highlighting its relevance in veterinary hematology.
Veterinary hematology applied to oncology correlates blood cell findings in oncologic patients, enabling the study of hematological alterations in these individuals. Rouleaux formation of erythrocytes remains a scarcely explored parameter in patients with neoplastic conditions, suggesting the need for studies on the prevalence of this finding in animals with malignant and benign tumors. In light of this, a retrospective study was conducted using archived laboratory tests from the Veterinary Hospital of the University of Marília (Brazil), analyzing hematology reports from 2023 and 2024 of patients diagnosed with neoplastic disorders. Erythrocyte rouleaux formations were used as the primary parameter, and their prevalence was correlated with different neoplastic conditions, aiming to establish a relationship between these hematological findings and oncologic outcomes.
