The study demonstrates enhanced mechanical properties in magnesium alloys under high temperature and pre-torsion strain, indicating potential for aerospace applications.
In the aerospace field, magnesium alloys have the advantages of low density, high specific strength and rigidity, good damping, shock-absorbing and noise-reduction, and cyclable applications. Magnesium alloys are widely used in aerospace military products, such as aircraft wings, aerospace engines, and motor housings, and have become a potential lightweight material. However, due to the complex service environment in the aerospace field, especially the synergistic effect of high temperature and mechanical stress, strict requirements are put forward on the mechanical properties of magnesium alloys. This paper innovatively tests the mechanical properties of AZ80 magnesium alloy for aerospace by using the experimental method of coupled loading of high temperature and pre-torsion strain. The experimental results show that under the combined action of high temperature and pre-torsion strain, the strength and elongation of AZ80 magnesium alloy are improved. The temperature is 400°C. When the pretorsion is 15° and 30°, the tensile strength and elongation of the material are good. This research result provides a key experimental basis and theoretical support for the design, manufacturing, and safe service of magnesium alloy components for aerospace under high temperature and complex stress environments, and helps promote the wide application and performance optimization of magnesium alloys in the aerospace field.
