Finite element analysis predicts mechanical properties and damage mechanisms in unidirectional composites, suggesting robust modeling potential.
In this paper, a finite element model of the representative volume element (RVE) of unidirectional carbon fiber reinforced composites (CFRP) is established by using ABAQUS software. The modules and strength of CFRP are predicted based on the performance of the components, and the mesoscopic damage mechanism of the material under different loads is analyzed. The simulation results are in good agreement with the experiments, proving the validity of the RVE model.
