Review discusses neuroinflammation and natural anti-inflammatory therapies for Parkinson's disease, suggesting new avenues for treatment.
Parkinson's disease (PD) is one of the most prevalent neurodegenerative diseases affecting the central nervous system. The pathogenesis of PD is complex, and its etiology remains poorly understood. Recently, it has been suggested that neuroinflammation caused by overactivated microglia plays a significant role in the occurrence and development of PD. The use of anti-inflammatory medication to delay or prevent the occurrence and progression of PD has become a hot topic of research in this field. This review introduces the inflammatory mechanism of PD, the related inflammatory factors, and the progress of using natural anti-inflammatory drugs for PD prevention and treatment.
