This research demonstrates improved synthesis of tungsten carbide powders with high-frequency electrospark treatment, indicating significant findings on energy consumption.
The conditions for the synthesis of tungsten carbide powder without impurities by high-frequency electrical discharge machining of tungsten in a carbon-containing liquid are determined. A pulse voltage source with an output voltage of up to 600 V and a frequency of up to 10 kHz was used for the studies. The dependences of the synthesis productivity of tungsten carbides and specific energy consumption on the processing frequency and voltage on the electrodes are obtained. The surface morphology and the results of X-ray structural analysis of the obtained powder from tungsten granules in a carbon-containing liquid are presented.
