Case study reports successful airway management in newborn with tracheoesophageal fistula, implying urgent care is critical.
Tracheal agenesis is a rare type of congenital anomaly accompanied with a complete or partial absence of the trachea. This condition is usually fatal due to respiratory distress shortly after birth. We present a case of Floyd type II tracheal agenesis with a tracheoesophageal fistula, in which the newborn patient’s airway was secured through early resuscitation with intubation via esophagus. This case highlights the importance of early clinical suspicion and diagnosis of tracheal agenesis, as well as prompt airway evaluation and securement achieved through suspension laryngoscopy.
