This review explores the impact of organosilicon compounds on pharmaceuticals and materials, highlighting their significance in various applications.
Organosilicon compounds -containing carbon-silicon bonds- play a critical role in many industrial and technological applications due to their unique combination of organic and inorganic properties. They exhibit remarkable thermal stability, chemical inertness, and hydrophobicity, making them requisite in fields ranging from materials science to pharmaceuticals. In everyday products, they found their use in sealants, adhesives, and coatings on paper and packaging films because they provide a barrier against moisture and oxygen along with improved durability and flexibility. Because of their excellent mechanical qualities, high biocompatibility, and versatility, they also find their use in the Medical field and are used in neural interfaces, cardiovascular devices, orthopedic implants, and drug delivery systems. Their unique combination of thermal stability, electrical insulation, and flexibility makes them indispensable in electronic. Various researches have been done to make their role more and more effective in bringing revolution to the world. In this review we have made attempts to review their uses in Medicine and Industry of life from papers published in 2016-2024.
