Analysis shows oral hygiene improvements in periodontal patients using chlorhexidine and aluminum lactate.
The article analyzes the main factors affecting individual oral hygiene and periodontal tissue health. The high prevalence of periodontal diseases in the world, including 10 % of patients with severe periodontitis, has social, medical and economic consequences. Chemotherapeutic control of microbial biofilm formation is an important component of individual oral hygiene. The active ingredients of toothpastes and rinses provide a reduction in the formation of microbial biofilm on teeth, an anti-inflammatory effect on the gums and mucous membrane, which has a positive effect on the oral health. The synergy of aluminum lactate in combination with chlorhexidine in toothpastes and rinses provides an antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory effect and also reduces gingival bleeding in daily oral care in periodontal patients. Long-term experience in using the combination of aluminum lactate with chlorhexidine, the results of post-marketing studies indicate high confidence among dentists in the use of toothpastes and rinses with these active ingredients in daily individual hygiene in periodontal patients.
