Content analysis reveals convergences and divergences in the New Testament and Quran, highlighting opportunities for intercultural dialogue in education.
The last decade has seen considerable immigrant and refugee flows towards Greece and Europe. These populations display cultural and religious diversity, thus endowing receiving societies with multicultural and multireligious characteristics. The aim of this article is to investigate, by means of the quality content analysis, the New Testament and the Quran in order to ascertain whether they may promote the instigation and further development of intercultural dialogue on an educational level. This investigation led to the conclusion that there exist points of convergence between the two texts on pivotal issues, such as poverty and the approach of foreigners, as well as areas of divergence on matters such as the acceptance of religious otherness, the approach of people with special needs, etc. Still, all of these points may aid in initiating and sustaining intercultural dialogue on an educational level.
