Qualitative research reveals inadequate teacher participation in SSE procedures, suggesting limited opportunities for school improvement.
The present research focuses on utilizing the experience gained by teachers in their involvement in past SSE procedures (2010-2014). Using the semi-structured interview in the context of qualitative research, we considered it appropriate to explore the views of fourteen teachers in an Experimental Lyceum, in order to understand the experiences they gained from their involvement in SSE processes and through what opportunities they may have in order to access them in a new SSE program. As the results of the research show, their involvement in SSE processes is judged to be inadequate, without highlighting the importance of SSE for school improvement, as the opportunities they have gained from their involvement in the processes are very limited. They seem to have simply executed the instructions they sent, since they did not have any particular knowledge, to build their own tools that fit the particular characteristics of their school unit.
