Innovative actions in education are those activities that promote new educational concepts in school reality (Fullan, 2001). The purpose of this study was to investigate the contribution of management models and leadership styles of principals, as well as their demographics, to the successful or unsuccessful implementation of innovative programs in schools of Primary and Secondary Education in the prefecture of Larissa. For this purpose, principals of school units of Primary and Secondary Education were asked about it.The results showed that the answers of the directors differ according to the level of education, the years of service and the possession of a master"s degree. For the implementation or not of the innovative programs in the schools, they consider that the principals themselves are responsible, the lack of motivation from the state, the lack of infrastructure and materials. Also in the successful or unsuccessful implementation of innovative programs in education, they consider effective the "cooperative" model of administration and the "democratic" leadership style.
