Research demonstrates ERP simulations improve understanding of business process management in students, implying educational strength.
The purpose of this research is to identify the role and contribution of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) in education, through business simulation, in order to better understand the basic concepts of Business Process Management. The research was conducted on 189 undergraduate students of the Department of Supply Chain Management of the International University of Greece for two consecutive academic years, in the context of a course lasting one academic semester and concerned the use of a Complete Business Information. Findings showed that the trainees consider -to a very large extent- that the ERP simulation exercises during the course had a significant contribution to the understanding of how companies operate and to the recognition of the basic concepts of the subject of Business Process Management, which is a critical success factor for Business Administration courses.
