This research identifies how self-regulation and self-efficacy influence learning motivation in high school students, suggesting the need for tailored motivational strategies.
In today"s strictly scientifically based society, scientific knowledge is essential for every individual. However, its proper development requires a response to the individual"s requirements and prior experiences, which are represented in his drive to acquire Natural Science-related knowledge and skills. Consequently, it is of the utmost importance to examine the learning motivation factors of students, and specifically those concerning learning Natural Sciences, which is the focus of this study. The research approach for measuring this motivation was based on the adaptation in the Greek language of a research tool (questionnaire) by Velayutham et al (2011) which was administered to a research sample of 187 high school students. The results of the research showed the existence of a high correlation between the individual motivational factors for the learning of Natural Sciences.
