Observational analysis of trace gaseous concentrations reveals seasonal variations, indicating pollution trends.
The paper presents the results of measurements of ground-level ozone, nitrogen oxide and dioxide, and sulfur dioxide concentrations in the atmosphere of the southeastern coast of Lake Baikal at the Boyarsky research station of the Institute of Physical Material Science Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences (IPMS SB RAS). The features of the daily variation of small gaseous impurities in different seasons of the year are revealed. Seasonal variations of ground-level ozone, nitrogen oxide and dioxide, and sulfur dioxide concentrations were obtained. Periods with increased ground-level ozone concentrations were noted. It has been shown that high ozone levels may be associated with long-range transport from polluted areas of Mongolia and China.
