Observational analysis shows tree cover impacts millet head miner incidence in Senegal, highlighting pest management strategies.

Increased tree cover, like baobabs, was linked to higher millet head miner incidence and greater grain loss.
The diversity of trees did not significantly affect pest dynamics, indicating that species identity is crucial.
Certain tree species, such as bushwillow shrubs, enhanced egg parasitism but did not heavily reduce pest impact.
Understanding the relationship between tree functional traits and pest regulation is vital for effective pest management.

Sow et al. (2025) studied this question.
