Observational analysis reveals increased prevalence of grapevine moth in grapevine plants, indicating varying impacts by variety.
The paper presents the results of monitoring studies of the prevalence and harmfulness of grapevine moth (Lobesia botrana) in 2022 and 2023 on grapevine plants in the Rostov region. A significant excess of the pest population density was noted in all generations in 2022, compared to 2023. An increase in the pest population was also ob-served in the first generation both in 2022 and 2023, compared to the subsequent ones, which is explained by favorable conditions for the wintering forms of the grapevine moth. Meteorological conditions during the vegetation periods of 2022 and 2023 were also favorable for the development of grapevine moth, especially in 2022, when critical conditions for the viability of the pest: temperatures above 32 °C and humidity below 50 % were observed quite rarely. A consistent decrease in the pest population was noted both in 2022 and 2023 from the first to the third generation. The prevalence of grapevine moth differed insignificantly by variety, with the exception of the Cabernet Sauvignon variety, on the plants of which the pest population density significantly exceeded that of the other studied varieties: Crystal, Sibirkovy, Tsvetochny.
