This analysis reveals the relationship between two-dimensional and three-dimensional porosity in sandstone, suggesting implications for hydrocarbon exploration.
The pore structure of sandstone reservoirs is a key factor affecting hydrocarbon migration and accumulation. Accurately characterizing these features is of great significance for oil and gas exploration and development. This study selects two typical sandstones as research objects and employs CT scanning to obtain three-dimensional images. Through preprocessing, threshold segmentation, and quantitative algorithms, pore parameters are extracted. The correlation between two-dimensional porosity and three-dimensional porosity is analyzed, and the critical volume of the representative elementary volume (REV) is determined. Fractal dimension is also calculated to assess the complexity of the pore structure. This study aims to establish a method for three-dimensional quantitative characterization of sandstone pore structures, providing technical support for the precise analysis of complex reservoirs and offering guidance for oil and gas exploration and development.
