Participatory action research fosters co-creation of urban solutions, highlighting social inclusion and diversity.
This article explores the concept of Humane, Smart, and Sustainable Cities (CHIS), focusing on the dynamics and outcomes of the Intelligent Social Inclusion Working Group during the CHIS Workshop held in Florianópolis, Santa Catarina. The study investigates the co-creation of solutions for revitalizing the area from Praça XV, in the city center, to the sea, through the lens of social inclusion. Using a participatory action research methodology, academics and citizens actively collaborated in developing innovative proposals for urban requalification. This process involved the creation of accessible spaces and the enhancement of community participation, addressing the needs of historically marginalized groups. The results highlight the potential of co-creation to develop inclusive urban solutions that reflect cultural diversity and promote social equity.
