Experimental results reveal improved seismic performance in precast connections, suggesting effective design strategies.
The current study presents experimental outcomes on seismic performance of innovative precast column-foundation connections with various configurations. Precast specimens were fabricated by incorporating cast-in-situ shear key, compact hybrid rebar coupler and interface bond coating in the connection. The connections were cast with different cast-in-situ composites including High Strength Composite, Hybrid Engineered Cementitious Composites, Steel Fiber Reinforced Concrete and Conventional Concrete. Experimental results of precast specimens exhibited comparable hysteresis behavior and performance characteristics to monolithic joint. The observed failure pattern portraits that rebar coupler effectively distributed the sectional stiffness, resulting in variation of plastic hinge behavior.
