In contemporary times, scientific studies that focus on the influences of greenwashing present in the automotive sector are essential, especially when environmental and social demands gain potencial in the social networks. This progressive demand for sustainability has led companies to adopt false "green" strategies to improve their position in the industry. Thus, the aim of this study is to present greenwashing in the automotive sector based on a sample of examples from companies in the sector. The methodology is characterized by a qualitative approach, basic nature, exploratory objectives and procedures supported by bibliographic research. As results, it is shown the notable presence of greenwashing in the automotive sector and also the frequent negligence of the term sustainability to refer to electric vehicles. Since for a product be considered sustainable, its entire life cycle must be based on economic, social and environmental plans.
