Magnetic and ferroelectric behaviors are analyzed in composite ceramics, indicating magnetoelectric coupling.
Magnetic, ferroelectric, and magnetoelectric studies of 0.9BaTi 1− x Sn x O 3 –0.1Ni 0.8 Zn 0.2 Fe 2 O 4 ( x = 2, 5, 10, and 15%) composite ceramics are reported in the present work. BaTi 1− x Sn x O 3 ( x = 2, 5, 10, and 15%) as a ferroelectric and Ni 0.8 Zn 0.2 Fe 2 O 4 as a magnetic phase have been used in the present study. The X‐ray diffraction measurements confirm the bi‐phase nature of the prepared composites along with the Rietveld refinement. 119 Sn Mössbauer measurement confirms the homogeneous mixture as well as the valence state of the Sn. The simultaneous presence of room temperature ferroelectric and magnetic orderings is confirmed by measuring the P–E and M–H loops of the prepared composites. An anomaly has been observed in the temperature‐dependent magnetic data across the ferroelectric transition temperature of the ferroelectric phase, indicating the presence of magnetoelectric coupling in the studied composites. Systematic variation has been observed in ferroelectric and magnetic behavior as a function of Sn content in the studied compounds at room temperature. The interesting observation of the present results is that the ME coupling persists for the highest concentration ( x = 15%) of BaTi 1− x Sn x O 3 , which shows the coexistence of ferroelectrics and relaxor phase.
