Observational analysis of lipid peroxidation levels in Wistar rats exposed to sodium glutamate, indicating non-toxicity of Thevetia peruviana extract.
The objective of this paper is to investigate Lipid peroxidation assay in brain, liver and kidney of Wistar rat exposure to sodium-glutamate (seasoning) prepared from Thevetia peruviana kernel. The lipid peroxidation assay in the brain, liver and kidney was measured by the level of Thiobarbituric acid reactive species (TBARS). From the result, it was discovered that sodium glutamate produced (seasoning) was safe. On the lipid peroxidation, it was revealed that there were no significant differences observed between the control and treatment sample at 1 mg/kg, 10mg/kg and 1000mg/kg which indicate the non-toxicity of the extract at both low and higher doses.
