Numerical analysis demonstrates flushing efficiency in pipelines with various flow velocities and particle sizes, indicating optimal conditions for cleaner product oil.
In oil pipeline systems, small solid contaminant particles from the air and slag particles generated during welding processes can deposit within the pipelines, adversely affecting the quality and purity of the product oil. It is essential to conduct professional flushing operations on the pipeline system to effectively remove the deposited particulate contaminant. The modeling of seven typical valve components was modeled, and the particle migration in the valves during product oil flushing for horizontal and vertical valve installation was simulated using computational fluid dynamics with discrete phase method. The study investigated the effects of flow velocity and cleaning fluid (product oil) on the flushing efficiency for particles with various sizes and masses, thereby determining the optimal flushing velocities.
