Case report highlights the implications of torpedo maculopathy in patients, suggesting careful monitoring for complications.
Torpedo maculopathy is a rare congenital anomaly and classically presents with a bullet or torpedo shaped hypopigmented lesion temporal to the fovea. Pathogenesis of this lesion is still not conclusive and only a few cases have been documented in published literature. Vision is generally unaffected in this condition and treatment is instituted in the rare cases of secondary choroidal neovascular membrane formation.
