Analysis of political mediation reveals its role in conflict resolution among political actors, suggesting effective tools for communication.
A meaningful interpretation of the concept of “political mediation” is carried out. It is emphasized that the essential basis of politics as a special sphere of society’s life is the power-based filling of all its phenomena and processes. The problems of mediation as an important part of the democratic political process, one of the main and effective tools for resolving conflict situations and resolving controversial issues between political actors are considered. Political mediation is studied, which is proposed to be attributed to the sphere of relations between different social groups and individuals regarding the use of state and local government bodies to realize their socially significant interests and needs. This sphere is characterized by dynamism, the struggle for access to power, ruling functions in the state and local government. It is determined that political mediation is a process in which an impartial person (political mediator/intermediary) helps to establish political communication and promotes reconciliation between the parties to a conflict situation, which will ultimately allow them to reach a mutually acceptable agreement. The functions of a political mediator are revealed, who helps the parties to a political conflict to conduct the negotiation process in the best possible way and find a mutually acceptable solution, acts as a catalyst between the parties to a political conflict, while moderating and managing the negotiation process in order to avoid confrontation (escalation) of the conflict; he tries to understand what exactly prevents the parties to a political conflict from reaching an agreement and should help them see this conflict as a common problem, and not as a conflict of opposing parties (positional conflict).
